A New Beginning

It has been 7 years since Sherry passed away. In that time I have moved and bought a house that had been a rental for years the yard was a disaster and the inside needed help. Just what an old carpenter needs, a project to keep him busy. after 4 years I'm starting to get the yard in shape. The bamboo thicket that covered a 1/4 of the back yard is gone with only the occasional active root popping up a shoot. The hostas (I moved 31 of them from the old yard are well established and looking beautiful. Only 5 didn't survive the move.

Here is Buddha, who is enjoying his new digs away from the gas main.

Garden Marauders

we went out of town last weekend and came back to find a pair of young ground hogs taking up residence behind the garden shed. Young ground hogs are voracious eaters. We came back and found all the lettuce eaten to the ground as well as cucumber vines as high as they could reach and half the sweet potato vines and that was just the first day. The next day the finished the sweet potatoes and ate 2 heads of cabbage. I caught one of them, making the other disappear for a few days. But the eating was just too good so he came back I caught him last night .

I released him down by the river at the same place I did his sibling the other day here he is running for cover.
